PEOPLE

To summarise, First Peoples 12 is a valuable course for students as it incorporates English language skill development and indigenous perspectives, and it helps students develop into better readers, writers, and thinkers. By taking this course, students will establish a foundation that will allow them to succeed in whatever they pursue after high school while establishing an understanding and respect for all indigenous cultures.
First Peoples 12 is an advanced English class that focuses on indigenous literature, oral histories, and contemporary texts for the students that are in their last year of high school (12th grade). Throughout the course, students examine themes of identity, resilience, and reconciliation through the analysis of literature. In addition to helping students develop their reading, writing, and communication abilities, it is also designed to improve students’ understanding of how literature and culture are closely intertwined.
